Wentworth Miller

Wentworth Earl Miller III (born June 2, 1972) is a British‑American actor and screenwriter best known for his breakout role as Michael Scofield in the Fox series Prison Break, which earned him a Golden Globe nomination in 2005. Born in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England, to American parents—his mother a special‑education teacher and his father a Rhodes Scholar‑lawyer—Miller moved to Park Slope, Brooklyn at the age of one and later graduated from Princeton University with a BA in English, where he penned a senior thesis on literary identity and sang with the Princeton Tigertones. After relocating to Los Angeles in 1995, he endured years of auditions and minor TV parts before landing his first starring role in the 2002 miniseries Dinotopia and a supporting turn in The Human Stain, where he immersed himself in a rigorous four‑month boxing regimen to portray a younger Coleman Silk.

In 2005 Miller was cast as the brilliant engineer Michael Scofield, a role that defined his career and showcased his willingness to endure grueling tattoo applications for authenticity. Beyond Prison Break, he appeared in the horror‑thriller Stoker (2013) as its screenwriter under the pseudonym Ted Foulke, contributed to the Resident Evil franchise as Chris Redfield, and entered the Arrowverse as Leonard Snart/Captain Cold on The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. An outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, Miller publicly came out in 2013, later declaring he would no longer portray straight characters, and has spoken openly about his struggles with depression and autism diagnosis. Today he resides in Vancouver, continues to write and act, and is slated to reunite with Prison Break co‑star Dominic Purcell for the upcoming drama Snatchback.
