Thomas Haden Church, originally named Thomas Richard McMillen, is a celebrated American actor who first gained popularity through his roles in the 1990s sitcom Wings and the television show Ned & Stacey (1995–1997). However, his film work significantly elevated his fame. Notable performances include roles in the comedy movie George of the Jungle (1997), the critically acclaimed film Sideways (2004) that won him an Oscar nomination, and the globally known superhero film Spider-Man 3 (2007) where he played the villain Sandman. This was followed by another appearance as Sandman in Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). Furthermore, Church has had starring roles in a myriad of successful movies like Over the Hedge (2006), Smart People (2008), Easy A (2010), We Bought a Zoo (2011), Max (2015), and Hellboy (2019). He made his directorial debut with Rolling Kansas (2003) and starred as Agent Stone in the action comedy series Twisted Metal in 2023.

Born on June 17, 1960, in Woodland, California, Church's journey from working in Louisiana's oil fields to the film industry is a testament to his dedication and hard work. His career kicked off as a radio personality and demanding voice-over work. He then migrated to California to foster his blossoming acting career. Besides acting, he had bought a ranch in Texas in 1998 and has had voice-over work in commercials. He attained further accolades for performances in films and TV series like Idiocracy, Over the Hedge, and AMC's highest-rated production, Broken Trail which won him an Emmy in 2006. Similarly, he won great praise for his portrayal of Sandman in Spider-Man 3. His contributions were recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2005 when he was invited to join the academy. As of 2023, his latest role was Lloyd in Acidman.
