Tedros Teclebrhan

Tedros Teclebrhan (born 1 September 1983) is a German comedian and actor who has become a cultural‑phenomenon in German‑language entertainment. Raised as the youngest of three sons in Asmara, Ethiopia, he moved with his family to Mössingen, Germany, where he grew up and later completed his Zivildienst before enrolling at the CreArte acting academy in Stuttgart, graduating in 2008. His early screen work began with a short film called Beles in 2006, but his first major television exposure arrived in 2009 with roles on SWR’s Laible und Frisch (as a Swabian gas‑station leaseholder) and ZDF’s crime series Stolberg (as a Rhineland drug dealer). That same year he made his stage debut in the musical Hairspray, eventually taking on the iconic role of Seaweed J. Stubbs from December 2009 to September 2010.

In 2011 Teclebrhan achieved viral fame when a self‑produced YouTube sketch titled Umfrage zum Integrationstest (was nicht gesendet wurde) introduced his breakout character “Antoine,” amassing over 42 million views by late 2021. Capitalising on this success, he launched the televised variety programme Teddy’s Show on ZDFneo in 2012, blending stand‑up, musical numbers, guest interviews and a roster of original personas such as Percy, Lohan Cohan, Ernst Riedler and Ringo Fleischer. The accompanying live‑tour, Teddy Show – Was laberst du…?!, sold out across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Since then he has expanded into film, notably starring alongside Fahri Yardım and Sido in Christian Alvart’s Half Brothers (2014), and continued to appear in series such as Bad Banks (2020) and the feature System Crasher (2019). His multifaceted career, marked by a blend of sharp social satire and charismatic performance, makes him one of the most influential contemporary figures in German comedy and acting.
