Teddy Sears

Edward M. Sears, better known by his stage name Teddy Sears, is an American actor whose career has spanned over two decades, beginning with a two‑year contract on the daytime soap One Life to Live after a fortuitous first audition. Born on April 6, 1977 in Washington, D.C., he was raised in the affluent suburb of Chevy Chase, Maryland, where he attended the Landon School in Bethesda before earning a football scholarship at the University of Maryland. After transferring, he completed a degree in business management at the University of Virginia in 1999, a background that initially led him to a corporate career in New York before he pivoted to acting. Sears sharpened his craft at the William Esper Studio, which opened doors to guest spots on the Law & Order franchise, Whoopi, and comedy appearances on Late Show with David Letterman and Late Night with Conan O'Brien. His breakout television role came as public defender Richard Patrick Woolsley on TNT’s legal drama Raising the Bar, showcasing his ability to blend earnestness with dry humor. He later joined the anthology horror series American Horror Story (season one, later titled Murder House) as the enigmatic Patrick, and portrayed Dr. Austin Langham on Showtime’s period drama Masters of Sex, contributing to a nuanced exploration of sexual research in the 1950s and 60s. Perhaps his most iconic performance is as DC Comics super‑villain Hunter Zolomon / Zoom on The CW’s The Flash, where he initially appeared as the golden‑age hero Jay Garrick before the shocking reveal of his true identity. In addition to television, Sears has appeared in Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, the Lifetime film The Client List, and the action thriller 24: Legacy as Keith Mullins. Outside of acting, he enjoys surfing and ice hockey, and maintains close ties to his family, including two brothers, Christian and Ricky, and sister Dana. Married to actress Milissa Skoro since October 5 2013, Sears continues to balance a dynamic career with personal passions, solidifying his place as a versatile and dedicated talent in contemporary television.
