Stéphane Bak, born on 19 September 1996 in Le Blanc-Mesnil, Seine‑Saint‑Denis, France, emerged from a modest background as the son of Congolese immigrants who worked at Charles de Gaulle Airport. Growing up among six siblings in a challenging urban neighbourhood, he faced early academic difficulties, being expelled from school at fourteen, yet he swiftly turned this adversity into a drive for artistic expression. By age fourteen he was already working, and at fifteen he enrolled in the esteemed Cours Florent, laying the groundwork for a transition from comedy to serious acting. His early comedy career began in December 2010 when he performed stand‑up in Parisian clubs, quickly earning the unofficial title of “the youngest comedian in France.” He appeared on major stages such as the Grand Rex, the Accor Arena, and the Montreux Comedy Festival, and he gained national visibility through recurring segments on Le Grand Journal and L'Émission pour tous.

In the mid‑2010s Bak shifted his focus to film, taking supporting roles in comedies like Les gamins and Serial Teachers before landing his first leading part in Seuls (2017). His performance in Joel Karekezi’s The Mercy of the Jungle (2018) earned him a spot among the Toronto International Film Festival’s Rising Stars, and he became the French voice of Miles Morales in Spider‑Man: Into the Spider‑Verse, a role he reprised in the sequel.
