Stefano Accorsi

Stefano Accorsi (born Stefano Lelio Beniamino Accorsi on 2 March 1971 in Bologna, Emilia‑Romagna) is an acclaimed Italian actor whose career spans over three decades of stage and screen performances. After graduating from the prestigious Bologna Theatrical School in 1993, he spent several formative years honing his craft in theatre before transitioning to cinema, where his breakthrough came in 1995 with the lead role in Jack Frusciante è uscito dal gruppo. This early success was followed by a string of noteworthy collaborations, including Daniele Luchetti’s I Piccoli Maestri (1998), which competed for the Golden Lion at Venice, and Luciano Ligabue’s Radiofreccia, for which Accorsi captured three major awards, among them the David di Donatello for Best Actor. His performances in L'ultimo bacio (The Last Kiss) and Nanni Moretti’s The Son's Room cemented his status as a leading figure in contemporary Italian cinema. In 2001 he starred in Ferzan Özpetek’s Le fate ignoranti, a film that not only resonated in Italy and Turkey but also earned him three additional accolades for his sensitive portrayal of a homosexual man. Accorsi’s versatility extended to international projects, such as David Blair’s Tabloid TV and the Franco‑Italian production Les Brigades du Tigre alongside Diane Kruger, as well as a memorable turn in La Faute à Fidel with Julie Depardieu. He served on the Venice Film Festival jury in 2003, underscoring his respected standing within the industry, and continued to explore diverse roles in films like Ovunque sei (as an emergency‑care doctor) and L'amore ritrovato. Beyond the screen, Accorsi’s personal life attracted media attention when he became engaged to French‑Italian supermodel Laetitia Casta, with whom he shares two children, Orlando (born 21 September 2006) and Athena (born 29 August 2009). Although the couple never married, the actor has spoken openly about his agnostic worldview, reflecting a thoughtful and independent spirit that informs both his artistic choices and public persona.
