What's After the Movie
Spike Jonze, born as Adam Spiegel, is a multi-talented American filmmaker, actor, musician, and photographer. He kicked off his career as a teenager, photographing BMX riders and skateboarders for magazines like Freestylin' Magazine and Transworld Skateboarding. He then moved to video production, and his work attracted several musicians throughout the 1990s, leading to collaborations with several famous bands and artists. Jonze’s big break in feature film directing came with 'Being John Malkovich' (1999) and 'Adaptation' (2002), both collaborations with writer Charlie Kaufman. He received an Academy Award nomination for Best Director for the former. Jonze was a co-creator and executive producer of MTV's Jackass franchise as well. His later directorial ventures include 'Where the Wild Things Are' (2009) and 'Her' (2013), the latter winning him multiple awards, including an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Over time, he has sporadically worked as an actor, taking on roles in movies and series across various genres. Currently, he serves as the creative director of Vice Media, Inc. and its multinational television channel Vice on TV.
