Sandrine Dumas is a French actress and filmmaker whose career spans more than three decades, marked by collaborations with some of cinema’s most celebrated auteurs. Born on 28 April 1963 in Neuilly‑sur‑Seine, she grew up in the cultural milieu of Paris and is the daughter of Jean‑Louis Dumas, the fifth‑generation head of the legendary Hermès fashion house, a heritage that exposed her early to artistic luxury and refined aesthetics. She made her screen debut in 1987 with The Veiled Man, and quickly attracted the attention of international directors, appearing in Miloš Forman’s adaptation of Valmont and the poetically resonant The Double Life of Véronique by Krzysztof Kieślowski, roles that demonstrated her capacity for nuanced, emotionally layered performances.
