Roberto Álamo, born Roberto Martínez Felipe on 1 January 1970 in Madrid, Spain, is one of the most versatile and acclaimed actors of contemporary Spanish cinema. From an early age he was fascinated by the silver screen, recalling how Jack Lemmon’s performance in Days of Wine and Roses ignited his passion for storytelling and the craft of acting. He later honed his technique at the renowned Cristina Rota acting school, where he absorbed a rigorous method that blended classical theatre with modern improvisation, and he soon joined the celebrated theatre collective Animalario, contributing to several experimental productions that cemented his reputation on stage. Álamo’s film debut arrived with The Ugliest Woman in the World (1999), a darkly comic drama that introduced his capacity to blend subtle humor with emotional depth, a quality that would become a hallmark of his subsequent screen work.
