Rinku Rajguru

Prerana "Rinku" Mahadev Rajguru (born 3 June 2001) is an Indian actress who has rapidly ascended to prominence in Marathi and Hindi cinema. Born in the small town of Akluj, Maharashtra, she grew up in a close‑knit family with parents Mahadev and Āsha Rajguru and attended Jai Tuljabhavani Arts and Science Junior Ashram College in Tembhurni, where her early fascination with performing arts began to take shape. Her breakthrough came in 2016 when she was cast as the lead in Nagraj Manjule’s groundbreaking film Sairat, a role that earned her a National Film Award – Special Jury Award, a Maharashtra State Film Award for Best Child Artist, and two Filmfare Awards Marathi for Best Female Debut and Best Actress, cementing her status as a new generation icon. Following the success of the original, she reprised her role in the Kannada remake Manasu Mallige, demonstrating her linguistic versatility and pan‑Indian appeal. After Sairat, Rinku expanded her repertoire with diverse projects such as Kaagar, Makeup, the anthology series Unpaused, and Aathva Rang Premacha, each allowing her to explore different facets of contemporary storytelling. In 2022, she entered Bollywood with Jhund, and despite a series of commercial setbacks, she rebounded in 2023 with Jhimma 2, a critically acclaimed and commercially successful Marathi film that grossed over ₹14 crore, ranking among the year’s top three Marathi releases. Parallel to her film career, Rinku embraced the digital medium, starring in Hotstar’s action‑comedy series Hundred (2020) and ZEE5’s 200 Halla Ho (2021), thereby reaching a broader audience across streaming platforms. Her dedication to her craft, combined with an innate ability to convey deep emotion, continues to earn her accolades, most recently the Smita Patil Best Actress Award at the 61st Maharashtra State Film Awards for her performance in Asha.
