What's After the Movie
Reiko Suzuki (born 15 August 1944 in Tokyo, Japan) is a veteran Japanese voice actress whose career has spanned more than four decades. She began her professional work in 1977 after graduating from a voice‑training school, quickly gaining recognition for her warm, resonant timbre that suited elderly and maternal characters. Among her earliest notable performances was the role of Old Woman in the 1986 Dragon Ball television series, a part that introduced her to a generation of anime fans and led to further work on the franchise’s theatrical film Dragon Ball: The Legend of Shenlong. Over the years Suzuki has built a diverse portfolio, lending her voice to characters such as Sno’s Mother, Brenda in Lady!!, and the mystical Enya in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders (2014). Her talent for embodying both gentle and formidable personas is evident in video game credits, most prominently as the narrator and deity Gaia in Sony’s God of War trilogy, where her gravitas added depth to the epic narrative. In addition to anime and games, Suzuki has contributed to live‑action tokusatsu series, portraying distinctive monsters and antagonists like Shinnooian Hakutaku in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger and the recurring Marchioness Morc in Ressha Sentai ToQger. Her versatility extends to dubbing foreign productions, where she voiced characters such as Elenwen in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Urgl in the classic film The NeverEnding Story. Represented by Arts Vision, Suzuki remains active in the industry, continually bringing nuance and emotional resonance to each role she embraces, solidifying her status as a respected pillar of Japan’s voice‑acting community.
