Pedro Campos

Pedro Henrique de Andrade Lima Carneiro Campos (born 28 October 1995) is a Brazilian civil engineer and politician who has rapidly risen within the ranks of the Brazilian Socialist Party (PSB). Coming from a storied political dynasty in Pernambuco, he is the son of the late Eduardo Campos, former minister and governor, and the grandson of Miguel Arraes, a legendary former governor. His mother, Renata de Andrade Lima, is an economist and state auditor, and his older brother, João Henrique Campos, serves as the mayor of Recife, underscoring the family’s deep entrenchment in public service. Pedro’s education was equally distinguished; he entered the Federal University of Pernambuco at the remarkable age of sixteen, earning a degree in civil engineering in 2018, and also spent time studying abroad at the École des Ingénieurs de la Ville de Paris in France. His technical background informs his political perspective, emphasizing infrastructure development and sustainable urban planning.

In 2022, Pedro launched his political career, securing 172,526 votes to become a federal deputy for Pernambuco. Since taking office on 1 February 2023, he has advocated for policies that blend his engineering expertise with his commitment to social equity, reflecting the PSB’s progressive platform. His personal life is marked by his long‑term relationship with odontologist Augusta Carneiro, whom he married in November 2021 after an engagement in 2021. Despite his youth, Pedro Henrique’s blend of elite education, familial legacy, and professional experience positions him as a notable emerging figure in Brazilian politics.
