Montse Hernandez

Montserrat Hernández (full name Dorian Montserrat Hernández García, born 26 June 1999) is a Mexican professional footballer who has established herself as a versatile midfielder and winger in the Liga MX Femenil. Born in the small city of Zapotlán el Grande, Jalisco, she grew up immersed in the passionate football culture of the region, quickly demonstrating technical skill and tactical awareness that set her apart from her peers. Hernández entered the youth ranks of Club América, graduating to the senior squad in 2017, and over the next six seasons accumulated 157 league appearances and scored 21 goals, contributing to the club's historic Apertura 2018 and Clausura 2023 championships. Her style of play is characterized by rapid acceleration, precise passing, and an ability to drift between the flanks and central midfield, earning her the reputation of a dynamic playmaker who can both create and finish scoring opportunities. In 2023 she transferred to Guadalajara, where she has already added 24 caps and a goal, continuing to showcase her adaptability in a new tactical environment. Internationally, Hernández represented Mexico at two FIFA U‑17 Women’s World Cup tournaments (2014 and 2016) and the 2018 FIFA U‑20 Women’s World Cup, gaining valuable experience on the global stage. She earned her senior national team debut on 20 February 2021, entering as a 76th‑minute substitute in a 3–1 victory over Costa Rica at the iconic Estadio Azteca. Since then she has earned three caps for the senior side, and remains a candidate for future Copa América and World Cup squads. Off the pitch, Hernández is known for her commitment to youth development programs in Jalisco, often volunteering at local academies and serving as a role model for aspiring female athletes.
