What's After the Movie

Michael Dowse

Michael Dowse, born on April 19, 1973, is a renowned Canadian director. Born to Irish parents in London, Ontario, his career kicked off in the film industry as an editor. His directorial debut, a movie called FUBAR, despite being filmed on a digital camera within the limitations of a tight budget, received commendation by getting selected for the Sundance Film Festival. The movie was displayed on the prestigious midnight slot, the same pedestal that introduced the revolutionary film The Blair Witch Project. Although FUBAR did not receive the attention of any major American theatrical distributors, it managed to rise as a cult hit in Canada. The success of this project propelled Dowse into the production of the British film 'It's All Gone Pete Tong', an account of a deaf DJ in Ibiza.

In the week starting 19th February 2007, Dowse started the production of 'Take Me Home Tonight', a retro comedy that pays tribute to the 1980's. The movie was eventually released on March 4, 2011. He further directed 'The F Word', starring Daniel Radcliffe, Zoe Kazan, and Adam Driver, followed by 'Stuber', a film about a chance encounter between an Uber driver and a nearly-blind cop, that starred Dave Bautista, Kumail Nanjiani, and Iko Uwais. In the present day, he resides in Montreal with his wife and children, fervently working on his future projects.
