Later, he studied at the Kraków State Higher Theater School. He embarked on his acting journey in 2006 and has shown his remarkable performances till the present. Solo performances as well as collaboration with other actors like Filip Garbacz are some of his praises for their roles. Kościukiewicz won the Karlovy Vary Film Festival Award in 2010 and Zbigniew Cybulski Award in the same year. In 2011, he received an Eagle in the category 'Discovery of Year'. His nomination for the category 'Best Actor' also showcases the display of his talent. By 2013, Mateusz Kościukiewicz was established amongst the 10 most promising acting talents in Europe, according to EFP's Shooting Star 2014 showcase. In January 2020, with the release of The Informer in US cinemas, Kościukiewicz marked his first Hollywood role, playing Stazek.
