Marek Oravec

Marek Oravec (born December 27, 1983) is an Austrian actor who has built a trans‑national career spanning stage, television, film and video‑game voice work. After completing his training at the Drama Centre London, he settled in London in 2005 and quickly earned a reputation for his versatility, debuting in the title role of Faust at the Tabard Theatre under the direction of Cecil Hayter. His early stage work in Austria included three major English‑language productions at the Murau festival Shakespeare in Styria, where he portrayed Caliban in The Tempet (2006) and led the casts of Romeo and Juliet (2007) and Macbeth (2009), both directed by Daniel Winder. Oravec’s theatre credentials were further solidified when he appeared in the Royal National Theatre’s production of The Kitchen (2011), directed by Bijan Sheibani, showcasing his ability to navigate contemporary drama alongside classical material. Transitioning to screen, he accumulated a diverse array of British television credits, from the procedural comedy‑drama New Tricks and the daily soap Doctors to the science‑fiction series Torchwood and the international crime thriller Crossing Lines. His collaboration with Anna Friel in The Psychopath Next Door and a recurring role as Richard Forrester in the acclaimed Swedish series Modus highlighted his capacity for complex character work. In cinema, Oravec is perhaps best known for supporting roles such as Jan in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011), an SS Officer in Fury (2014), and Andrei in Our Kind of Traitor (2016). He has also contributed his voice to several video‑game titles, including Company of Heroes 2 (2013) and Battlefield 1 (2016). His performance as Macbeth in the eponymous 2012 feature earned him the Best Feature Film Actor award at the LA Indie Film Festival, underscoring his continued relevance across mediums.
