Maarten Heijmans

Maarten Henri Lajos Heijmans (born 24 December 1983 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch Emmy‑winning actor celebrated for his versatile stage presence and compelling screen performances. After completing a four‑year drama program at the Amsterdamse Toneelschool & Kleinkunstacademie in 2007, he quickly became a notable figure in the Dutch theatre scene, co‑creating the acclaimed piece De Huilende Kers with classmate Ian Bok, which earned the audience award at the ITS Festival and later the Dioraphte Fringe Award at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival. His involvement with the avant‑garde troupe Circus Treurdier further showcased his commitment to experimental performance art, allowing him to explore unconventional narratives and collaborate with emerging talent. Over the years, Heijmans has tackled a diverse repertoire, from classic productions such as Antigone and The Good Person of Szechwan to contemporary works like De Kleine Kapitein and Soldier of Orange, consistently delivering nuanced portrayals that blend emotional depth with physical precision.
