What's After the Movie
Lee Montgomery, born Elliott Harcourt Montgomery on November 3, 1961 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, is a Canadian former child actor who achieved cult status through a series of memorable performances in the 1970s and 1980s. He first appeared on screen as a model before making his acting debut in the Disney family film The Million Dollar Duck (1971) and quickly gained recognition for his haunting portrayal of the lonely boy Daniel "Danny" Garrison in the horror sequel Ben (1972). Montgomery followed this early success with a poignant turn as the dying child Robbie Seltzer in the Academy Award‑nominated Pete ’n’ Tillie (1972), and later cemented his reputation as a versatile young performer with the chilling role of Davey in the cult classic Burnt Offerings (1976). Throughout the 1970s he was a familiar face on television, guest‑starring on such series as The Mod Squad, Columbo, Kojak, Marcus Welby, M.D. and The Mary Tyler Moore Show, demonstrating a range that extended beyond horror into drama and comedy. In the 1980s he transitioned to adult roles, appearing in films like Split Image (1982), the sci‑fi thriller Mutant (1984) and the teen musical comedy Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985), where his dance partnership with Sarah Jessica Parker became a fan favorite. After his final film role in Into the Fire (1988) he stepped away from acting, pursued music projects—including composing the soundtrack for Trigon: The Legend of Pelgidium (2000)—and later worked for a marketing firm before resurfacing at horror conventions in the 2010s. As of March 2019, Montgomery has reinvented himself as a full‑time professional real estate agent in Solvang, California, maintaining a low public profile while occasionally engaging with fans of his earlier work.
