Kelly Macdonald is a seasoned Scottish actress known for her impressive performances on screen. Born on 23rd February 1976, MacDonald made her acting debut in Danny Boyle's notable film Trainspotting in 1996. Her exceptional skill and portrayals brought her various accolades such as a BAFTA Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. Over her active career years, MacDonald has taken on roles in significant projects including Elizabeth (1998), Gosford Park (2001), Nanny McPhee (2005), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011), and the HBO period crime drama series Boardwalk Empire (2010–2014), among others. She also lent her voice to Princess Merida in the Disney Pixar animated film, Brave (2012).

Born in Glasgow and raised in Neilston, MacDonald's career took off while she was working as a barmaid in Glasgow. She saw open auditions for Trainspotting and secured the role of Diane, beginning her journey in the acting world. She has also appeared in the HBO crime drama Boardwalk Empire as Margaret Thompson. Further, in 2012, she played the lead in the romantic comedy film, The Decoy Bride.
