Joe Spinell

Joe Spinell, originally named Joseph Spagnuolo, was a distinctive American character actor, making significant appearances during the 70s and 80s in both films and stage productions, as well as on and off Broadway. His dominant roles were in iconic films such as 'The Godfather' (1972), 'The Godfather Part II' (1974), 'Rocky' (1976), 'Rocky II' (1979), 'Taxi Driver' (1976), 'Sorcerer' (1977) and 'Cruising' (1980). Spinell's career extended towards major supporting roles up to his passing in 1989. He showed versatility by starring as a lead actor in horror films, such as 'Maniac' (1980), 'The Last Horror Film' (1982) and 'The Undertaker' (1988). A gritty character artist who often found himself typecast as villains, Spinell's large and imposing frame made him easily identifiable on-screen.
