Jerome Flynn

Jerome Flynn is an English actor and singer whose career has spanned more than three decades, beginning in the mid‑1980s and continuing to the present day. Born Jerome Patrick Flynn on 16 March 1963 in Bromley, Kent, England, he grew up in a family steeped in the performing arts; his father, Eric Flynn, was an actor and singer, and his siblings include actor Daniel Flynn and musician‑actor Johnny Flynn. After training at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Flynn made his on‑screen debut in 1986 with a role as firefighter Kenny “Rambo” Baines in the LWT film London’s Burning, and soon appeared in a variety of British television dramas such as The Monocled Mutineer and The Fear. His breakthrough came with the ITV series Soldier Soldier (1991‑1995), where he portrayed Corporal Paddy Garvey alongside Robson Green; the partnership extended beyond acting when the duo formed the musical act Robson & Jerome, delivering chart‑topping singles like “Unchained Melody,” “I Believe,” and “What Becomes of the Brokenhearted,” each earning multiple number‑one positions and selling millions of copies. In 2010 Flynn was cast as the charismatic sellsword Bronn in HBO’s epic fantasy Game of Thrones, a role he inhabited for nine seasons and which cemented his international reputation. Subsequent credits include the BBC’s Ripper Street, the Black Mirror episode “Shut Up and Dance,” and the western series 1923 (2022‑present), where he plays Scottish farmer Banner Creighton. Beyond acting, Flynn is a committed vegetarian and vegan activist, serving as a patron of the Vegetarian Society, Compassion in World Farming, and the Mindfulness in Schools Project, while also narrating sleep stories for the Calm app. He has resided in Pembrokeshire, Wales, since the late 1990s, and continues to pursue both artistic and humanitarian projects.
