Jean-Jacques Annaud

Jean-Jacques Annaud (born October 1, 1943), is an internationally celebrated French film director, screenwriter, and producer, renowned for guiding productions such as Quest for Fire (1981), The Name of the Rose (1986), and The Bear (1988) among others. His team's ingenuity in the industry has earned him accolades like five César Awards & a National Academy of Cinema Award. Impressively, Annaud's cinematic debut, Black and White in Color (1976), received an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.\nAnnaud's career launched through directing television advertisements in the late 1960s and early 1970s. His penchant for fully immersing himself in research for his films is notable. For example, he spent four years preparing for The Name of the Rose, travelling extensively to find the perfect cast and film set locations.
