Javier Godino

Javier Godino (born 11 March 1978 in Madrid, Spain) is a versatile Spanish actor and singer whose career spans film, television, theatre and music. He trained at Juan Carlos Corazza's School of Interpretation, where he honed a craft that would later see him perform alongside international stars such as Hugh Jackman and Ewan McGregor. Godino’s breakthrough came in 2009 when he portrayed Isidoro Gómez in Juan José Campanella’s The Secret in Their Eyes, the Argentine film that won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film; his performance earned nominations from both the Argentine Academy of Cinematography Arts and Sciences and the Spanish Actors Guild. On stage, he became one of the protagonists of Nacho Cano’s musical Hoy No Me Puedo Levantar in 2005, a production that turned into Spain’s longest‑running and highest‑grossing musical, where his portrayal of Colate received rave reviews and a Union de Actores de España nomination. He continued his collaboration with Cano in the follow‑up musical A, taking the lead role and recording three original songs, while his vocal work also appeared on the Mecano medley for a Coca‑Cola Light commercial. In cinema, after his Oscar‑winning role, he appeared in the Hollywood thriller Deception (2008) alongside Jackman and McGregor, and later shared screen time with Viggo Mortensen in the Argentine‑Spanish co‑production Everyone Has a Plan (2012). His later filmography includes Los muertos no se tocan, nene (2011), Los días no vividos (2012), Pasaje de vida (2015) and the 2023 release Sound of Freedom. On television he held a recurring role as Dionigi Di Naldo in the Netflix series Borgia, and he portrayed the famed writer Benito Pérez Galdós in the telefilm Prim, el asesinato de la calle del Turco (2014). Godino also explores music through his own band “The Wyest” and collaborations with artists such as Antonio Carmona and Graciela Giordano, solidifying his reputation as a multi‑talented performer.
