Jake M. Johnson

Mark Jake Johnson Weinberger, professionally known as Jake Johnson, was born on May 28, 1978. Johnson is an American actor and filmmaker, recognized prominently for his iconic role as Nick Miller in the Fox sitcom New Girl (2011–2018), a role that earned him a nomination for the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. He further appealed to audiences through his voicing of Spider-Man in the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and its 2023 sequel.

Piloting his career from 2002, Johnson has graced both small and big screens in a string of titles, including Let's Be Cops (2014), Paper Heart (2009), Safety Not Guaranteed (2012), 21 Jump Street (2012), Jurassic World (2015), The Mummy (2017), Tag (2018), and the comedy series Minx (2022-2023). Johnson also made his directorial debut with Self Reliance in 2023. Born in Evanston, Illinois to Ken Weinberger, a car-dealership owner, and Eve Johnson, a stained-glass-window artist, Johnson took his mother's last name during high school. An alumnus of both the University of Iowa and New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, his affinity for drama led him to write the play that bagged him the 2002 John Golden Playwriting Prize and the Sloan Fellowship for Screenwriting. Johnson married Erin Payne in 2006 and the couple have twin daughters, Elizabeth and Olivia, born in 2014.
