Izel Bezuidenhout

Izel Bezuidenhout (born 25 November 1998) is a prominent South African actress who first captured public attention as a child performer. Growing up in Pretoria, she was the daughter of Pastor Hannes Bezuidenhout and Lucia Bezuidenhout, a background that fostered both discipline and creativity. She attended Hoërskool Eldoraigne in Centurion, where her passion for the performing arts blossomed, leading her to a summer program at the Royal Academy of Dance in London in 2012 and a subsequent six‑month acting intensive in New York. At the remarkably young age of eleven, Izel secured her inaugural theatre role, and by fourteen she made her cinematic debut in the 2014 teen spy thriller Agent 2000: Die Laksman, portraying Chante‑Amoré Naudé.

Her early filmography quickly expanded with notable appearances in Dis ek, Anna (2015) and the youth‑oriented Mignon Mossie van Wyk (2016), followed by roles in Bram Fischer and Vaselinetjie in 2017. In 2018, she joined the beloved South African soap 7de Laan as Kyla Welman, a character she revisited in 2023, cementing her status on the small screen. International recognition arrived with the 2019 film Flatland, directed by Jenna Bass, where she starred opposite Nicole Fortuin; the film screened at both Berlinale and the Toronto International Film Festival.
