Ingrid García Jonsson

Ingrid García‑Jonsson, born on 6 September 1989 in the northern Swedish town of Skellefteå, is a Swedish‑Spanish actress whose career has spanned independent cinema, television, and even stunt work for Hollywood productions. Raised in a bilingual household, she spent her early childhood in Sweden before her family relocated to Seville, Spain, where she absorbed both cultures and languages, a background that would later become a hallmark of her versatile performances. Although she initially pursued studies in architecture and worked as a waitress in a local bar, García‑Jonsson’s passion for film led her to the screen in 2011 with a small role in Okupados, quickly followed by a breakthrough as the lead in Beautiful Youth (2014), a film that premiered at Cannes and earned her a Goya Award nomination for Best New Actress. Her early work demonstrated a keen ability to portray complex, often marginalised characters, a talent that has kept her in demand among European directors. In addition to acting, she performed stunt work for Knight and Day (2010), doubling for Cameron Diaz, which highlighted her physical commitment to the craft. Subsequent projects such as Me, Myself and My Dead Wife (2019), The Little Switzerland (2019), and the political satire So My Grandma’s a Lesbian! showcased her range—from dark comedy to satire—while her collaboration with Álex de la Iglesia on Venicephrenia (2020) added a slasher genre to her résumé.
