Ian Ho

Ian Yentou Ho (Chinese: 何甄陶; born 25 April 1997) is a Hong Kong freestyle swimmer whose career bridges two continents and two academic disciplines. Born in Blacksburg, Virginia, United States, Ho grew up with an early fascination for water, quickly advancing through local swim clubs before catching the attention of national selectors. By his late teens he had already qualified for international meets, earning his first senior cap for the Hong Kong national team and establishing a reputation for explosive speed in sprint events, particularly the 50‑metre freestyle. His breakthrough onto the world stage came when he represented Hong Kong at the 2020 Summer Olympics, a testament to his dedication and the depth of his training regimen. In the following years Ho continued to sharpen his competitive edge, culminating in a silver medal in the men's 50‑metre freestyle at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, marking one of Hong Kong's most significant achievements in sprint swimming in recent history. Beyond the pool, Ho pursued an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech, where he was a prominent member of the university’s swimming program.
