Hannah Al Rashid, of Bugis and French descent, is a British-Indonesian actress, model, and activist, famed for her exemplary work in Indonesian films and television. Born on 25th January 1986 in London, she moved to her father's home country Indonesia in 2008 after completing her degree in Indonesian and Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Initially planning to work for the United Nations Development Programme, her journey took an unexpected turn towards acting and modeling, marking the beginning of a successful career in the Indonesian entertainment industry. Her acting debut occurred in the comedy television show 'Awas Ada Sule', and she came to limelight after her performance in the psychological thriller 'Ritual' in 2012. Her big breakthrough came with her roles in the commercially successful comedy films 'Comic 8: Casino Kings Part 1' in 2015 and 'Comic 8: Casino Kings Part 2' in 2016 which earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Indonesian Box Office Movie Awards 2017. She continued to star in a series of critically acclaimed films and series, and as a feminist and social activist, she uses her platform to spread social and political messages promoting gender equality.
