Greg Mottola

Gregory J. Mottola, born July 11, 1964, is a renowned American film director, screenwriter and television director. Prior to becoming a well known name in the film industry, Mottola grew up in a Catholic family of Italian and Irish descent in Dix Hills, New York. He kickstarted his career after receiving his BFA in art from Carnegie Mellon University followed by MFA in film from Columbia University. In 1996, Mottola wrote and directed the independent film The Daytrippers post which he invested several years in directing for TV series such as Undeclared and Arrested Development. Considered to be a multi-faceted talent, Mottola gained more recognition for the films Superbad, Adventureland and Paul that he directed in recent years. The film Adventureland, released in 2009, is a finely rendered 'first love' story featuring a group of college kids working at an amusement park in the 1980s, which garnered critical praise at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. His science fiction/comedy film, Paul, is a playful portrayal of two comic book nerds who encounter an intriguing alien named Paul while holidaying in the US. Later on, Mottola returned to directing TV series, one of it being The Dangerous Book for Boys.
