What's After the Movie
Frederick Breithoff Weller, known commonly as Fred Weller, is an accomplished American actor born on April 18, 1966. Often celebrated for his diverse roles, Weller's acting career spans across television, stage, and film. He is best known for his roles as Johnny Sandowski on Missing Persons, Shane Mungitt in Take Me Out and Marshall Mann in In Plain Sight. A New Orleans native, Weller was born one of three sons to his lawyer parents and was a summa cum laude graduate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Further refining his craft, he studied acting at The Juilliard School where he was a member of the Drama Division's Group 21. This diverse education and background provided a firm foundation for his successful career in acting. Throughout his career, Weller has shown versatility in his roles, featuring in TV series such as Law & Order and its variants, as well as others like Monk and The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. He didn't just limit himself to the small screen but also made notable appearances in films like Stonewall, The Business of Strangers, and The Shape of Things. In 2003 he took to the stage and starred on Broadway in the Tony award-winning play Take Me Out, a role which required him to appear completely nude. His work on stage continued, and he further participated in productions such as Mothers and Sons and To Kill a Mockingbird. Indie films haven't escaped his talent either, with lead roles in successful independent films such as Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things, and James Toback's When Will I Be Loved. On a personal note, he is married to actress Ali Marsh with whom he has two children and resides in New York City's Greenwich Village neighborhood.
