Florian Munteanu

Florian Munteanu, also known by his ring name Big Nasty, is a German actor and boxer who was born on 13 October 1990. Of Romanian descent, Munteanu came to the spotlight for playing the boxer Viktor Drago in Creed II (2018) and Creed III (2023), along with the character of Razor Fist in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021). He was born to his mother, a lawyer, and his father, a dermatologist and former boxer, in Germany. Munteanu's academic pursuits took him to the university of applied science Hochschule Mittweida, where in 2014 he defended his Bachelor of Arts thesis on the organization and structure of the sport of boxing in Germany. He is known to have competed in boxing under his awe-inspiring ring name Big Nasty.

His career in film started with a role in Bogat, a 2016 German-Romanian film shot in Munich. However, his monumental breakthrough came two years later, when Sylvester Stallone was looking for a European heavyweight boxer to play Viktor Drago, the son of Ivan Drago, in the sports drama sequel Creed II. Stallone discovered Munteanu through training videos on the Internet and personally promoted him for the role. Since then, Munteanu's star has only been on the rise, with a recent role as General George Maniakes in Netflix's historical drama series Vikings: Valhalla. Fluent in Romanian, German, and English, Munteanu now resides in Munich and Los Angeles, California. His commanding presence and inspirational fitness regime have been recognized widely, earning him features on the covers of relevant publications like Muscle & Fitness (October 2018) and Men's Health (December 2018).
