Eva Robins

Eva Robin's (born 10 December 1958) is an Italian actress, model, and activist who emerged from Bologna's vibrant cultural scene. From a young age she grappled with gender identity, reporting that by thirteen she felt unmistakably female, a realization that shaped her personal and professional journey. At sixteen she encountered a transgender neighbor who introduced her to feminizing hormones, and by twenty‑one she was living openly as a transgender woman, a bold decision in an era when Italian society offered few role models. Despite her visibility, Robin's has consistently refused sex reassignment surgery, explaining that she is comfortable with her body and does not feel the need for further medical alteration. She adopted the stage name “Eva Robin's” as a homage to the Diabolik comic heroine Eva Kant and the novelist Harold Robbins, later adding the apostrophe after noticing the spelling “Robin's” while vacationing in Sardinia. Her breakthrough came in 1982 when director Dario Argento cast her in the cult horror classic Tenebrae, a performance that cemented her status as an icon of Italian genre cinema. Over a career spanning from 1979 to the present, she has appeared in numerous films and television projects, balancing mainstream roles with outspoken activism for transgender rights and broader LGBTQ+ visibility.
