What's After the Movie
Eric Lange (born February 19, 1973) is an American actor whose career spans over two and a half decades of television and film work. Born in Hamilton, Ohio, he grew up in the Midwest, graduating from Fairfield High School before earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he honed his craft in theater and performance. With Danish ancestry on his paternal side, Lange brings a distinctive presence to each role, combining subtle intensity with a touch of off‑beat humor. His first screen appearance arrived in 1996 with the comedy High School High, where he played a singing waiter, and shortly thereafter he secured a recurring stint on the daytime soap The Bold and the Beautiful. Throughout the early 2000s he amassed guest spots on genre‑defining series such as Angel, Firefly, CSI, The West Wing and The Bernie Mac Show, establishing himself as a reliable character actor capable of adapting to a wide range of tones. His breakout came with the recurring role of Stuart Radzinsky on the hit ABC drama Lost in 2009, followed by a memorable turn as the eccentric acting teacher Mr. Sikowitz on Nickelodeon's Victorious from 2010 to 2013. In 2013 he earned broader recognition as David Tate/Kenneth Hasting on FX's The Bridge, and later solidified his reputation with standout performances as Bill Stechner in Netflix’s crime saga Narcos (2016) and Lyle Mitchell in Showtime’s Escape at Dannemora (2018), a role that garnered a Critics' Choice Television Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Movie/Miniseries. More recent work includes Detective Gene Holcomb on HBO’s Perry Mason (2020‑2022) and the unsettling antagonist Byron Stallings on Apple TV+’s Sugar (2024). In film he has appeared in Nightcrawler, Wind River, and the horror thriller Antebellum. Off‑screen, Lange married sales representative Lisa Sabatino in 2013; the couple lives in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, and they have two children. After deciding to quit drinking in 2021, he has spoken publicly about the positive impact on his health and creative focus, continuing to bring depth and versatility to every project he undertakes.
