Eleonora Brown is an Italian film actress best known for her poignant performance as the young daughter of Sophia Loren's character in the critically acclaimed 1960 film Two Women (La Ciociara). Born on August 22, 1948, in Naples, Campania, Italy, to an American father who worked with the International Red Cross in post-World War II Italy and a Neapolitan mother, Brown entered the cinematic world at the tender age of twelve. Her portrayal in Vittorio De Sica's neorealist drama earned her international recognition, though the production was not without its challenges. Brown later revealed that her on-screen mother, Sophia Loren, personally shielded her from comprehending the full traumatic weight of the film's controversial rape scene, ensuring the young actress's emotional protection during the difficult filming process. Additionally, De Sica famously employed an emotionally manipulative technique to elicit authentic tears from Brown for the climactic final scene, falsely informing her that a telegram had arrived announcing her parents' death in a tragic accident, a method that successfully produced the desired devastating reaction from the novice actress.

Following her breakthrough success, Brown appeared in several other Italian productions throughout the 1960s, including The Sailor from Gibraltar, The Tiger and the Pussycat, and Cuore matto... matto da legare, showcasing her versatility in various cinematic genres. However, after her role in The Young, the Evil, and the Savage in 1968, she made the deliberate decision to retire from acting at just nineteen years of age, stepping away from the limelight to pursue academic and professional endeavors. She subsequently attended John Cabot University in Rome, where she earned a degree in Business and Economics, later establishing a career as a translator at the Italian Parliament while simultaneously working as a voice actor for two decades in both English and Italian. After being widowed in 1993 following her marriage, Brown maintained a private life until her remarkable return to cinema after a fifty-year hiatus, appearing in the 2018 film Un Amore Così Grande (A Love So Big), a musical drama set in the operatic world of Verona featuring performances by the popular trio Il Volo, thus marking an unexpected and celebrated comeback to the screen.
