Diego Peretti

Diego Peretti, born on 10 February 1963 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a celebrated actor, screenwriter and former psychiatrist whose eclectic career bridges the worlds of medicine and entertainment. Raised in the Constitución neighborhood, he is the son of an Italian physics and mathematics teacher and a Spanish clothier, a multicultural background that shaped his intellectual curiosity and artistic sensibility. After excelling at the prestigious Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires, Peretti entered the University of Buenos Aires Medical School, completing a rigorous four‑year residency in psychiatry at Hospital Castex in San Martín and practicing the discipline for fourteen years, during which he also engaged in political activity as a member of the Intransigent Party. His transition to acting began in the mid‑1990s with the television series Poliladron (1994) and a debut film role in El sueño de los héroes (1997), quickly establishing him as a versatile performer capable of blending humor, drama, and psychological depth. Peretti gained widespread recognition through the iconic role of Emilio Ravenna in the satirical series Los Simuladores (2003), and later showcased his range in romantic comedies such as No sos vos, soy yo (2004) and crime dramas like Bottom of the Sea (2004) and Wakolda (2013). Drawing upon his psychiatric expertise, he delivered a compelling performance in the Argentine adaptation of In Treatment, titled En terapia (2012‑2014), where his nuanced portrayal of a therapist resonated with both critics and audiences. Over the years he has contributed to more than thirty films, including the heist thriller The Heist of the Century (2020), and continues to be a prominent figure on television with projects like El reino (2021). Off‑screen, he shares a family life with his wife Natalia, and their daughter, actress Mora Peretti, who follows in her father’s artistic footsteps. Peretti’s unique blend of scientific training and creative expression has earned him a distinctive place in Argentine cinema and television, making him a cultural icon whose work reflects both intellectual rigor and heartfelt humanity.
