Dian Paramita Sastrowardoyo, widely known as Dian Sastro, is an Indonesian actress and model whose career has spanned over three decades, making her one of the most recognizable faces in Southeast Asian cinema. Born on 16 March 1982 in Jakarta to an artist father, Ariawan Sastrowardoyo, and university lecturer mother, Dewi Parwati Sastrowardoyo, she grew up in a family steeped in cultural and intellectual heritage, tracing its roots to Javanese nobility of the 15th century. After an early education at SMP Vincentius Otista and SMA Tarakanita 1, she entered the University of Indonesia, initially studying law before shifting to literature and earning a bachelor's degree in philosophy in 2007, followed by a cum laude Master’s in Management in 2014.
