Crystal Kay

Crystal Kay (born Crystal Kay Williams on February 26, 1986) is a Japanese singer, songwriter, actress, and radio host whose career spans more than two decades. Born in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan to a Korean‑Japanese mother and an African‑American father who served in the U.S. Navy, she grew up bilingual in English and Japanese while also studying French and a bit of Korean. Her early exposure to music came from her parents, who took her to concerts featuring legends such as Diana Ross and Bobby Brown. Signed to Epic Records at age eleven, she debuted with the single “Eternal Memories” in 1999 and quickly followed with her first album C.L.L Crystal Lover Light at age thirteen. The breakthrough arrived with her third studio album Almost Seventeen (2002), which peaked at number two on the Oricon charts and earned a platinum certification, establishing her as a leading R‑B and pop artist in Japan. Over the years she collaborated with prominent acts like M‑FLO, BoA, Chemistry, and Namie Amuro, achieving her sole number‑one album All Yours (2007) and accumulating over five million records sold worldwide.
