Chisa Yokoyama

Chisa Yokoyama (横山 智佐) was born on December 20, 1969 in Sumida, Tokyo, Japan, and has become one of the most recognizable voices in Japanese animation. Growing up in the bustling capital, she developed an early fascination with media, eventually working as an assistant for the Jump Broadcasting Station of Weekly Shōnen Jump while still in high school from 1988 to 1996, an experience that gave her insight into the entertainment industry. In 1987 she began her professional career as a voice actress after being signed by the renowned talent agency Arts Vision, and she quickly earned roles that would define her legacy. Among her breakthrough performances was the spirited Sasami Masaki Jurai in the beloved series Tenchi Muyo!, a character that showcased her ability to blend innocence with hidden strength. She later portrayed the fiery Ryoko Subaru in Martian Successor Nadesico, delivering a performance that balanced comedic timing with dramatic intensity, and she earned praise for her portrayal of Lucrezia Noin in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, a role that highlighted her talent for commanding, authoritative voices. Her work extended beyond anime into video games and audio dramas, where she lent her voice to iconic characters such as Sakura Shinguji in the Sakura Wars franchise, cementing her status as a versatile performer. In addition to acting, Yokoyama pursued a singing career, releasing several character songs and solo tracks that resonated with fans of the series she represented. In 2009 she married musician Chaka, a member of the band Tripolysm, and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter, in September 2015, adding a personal milestone to her already rich professional narrative. After leaving Arts Vision, she founded her own voice‑acting company, Banbina, to nurture new talent and provide greater creative control over her projects.
