Carla Juri, born on 2 January 1985 in Locarno, Ticino, Switzerland, is a Swiss actress whose multilingual background and athletic upbringing have profoundly shaped her artistic journey. Raised in the Alpine village of Ambrì, she grew up with a lawyer father and a sculptor mother, which exposed her early to both analytical rigor and creative expression. By the age of fifteen she had already mastered German, Italian and English, a linguistic versatility that later allowed her to audition across Berlin, London and Rome with ease. Her teenage years were marked not only by language study but also by competitive ice hockey, where she played as a forward for SC Reinach in the Swiss Class A league, demonstrating discipline and teamwork that translated into her acting career.

From 2005 to 2010 she devoted herself to formal training, studying theatre in Los Angeles under Douglas Matranga and later joining the ensemble of Theatrical Arts Theatre Company, before completing advanced classes at The Actors Centre in London. Juri’s breakthrough came with the short film Midday Room, and she quickly earned critical acclaim, receiving the Swiss Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for 180° in 2011 and Best Leading Actress for Someone Like Me the following year.
