Brian J. White

Brian J. White, born Brian Joseph White on April 21, 1975 in Boston, Massachusetts, is an American actor whose career has spanned more than two decades across film, television and stage. He grew up as the oldest of six children in a family that combined financial acumen—his mother Estela Bowser worked as a financial advisor—with sporting legend, as his father Jo Jo White was a Hall of Fame basketball player for the Boston Celtics. After graduating from Newton South High School, he attended Dartmouth College where he joined the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and later passed the Series 7 exam, briefly working as a stockbroker before pursuing acting full‑time. White’s early television work included guest spots on popular sitcoms such as Moesha and The Parkers, which led to more substantial roles in series like The Shield and the critically acclaimed dramedy Men of a Certain Age (2009‑2011). His film breakout arrived with the supporting role in the holiday‑season hit The Family Stone (2005), followed by leading parts in The Game Plan (2007) and the action‑thriller 12 Rounds (2009). In 2012 he showcased his versatility in the horror‑comedy The Cabin in the Woods and the feel‑good drama Good Deeds, further cementing his reputation as a reliable lead. Beyond the screen, White has toured nationally in David E. Talbert’s stage play What My Husband Doesn’t Know and appeared in music videos for artists such as Monica and Indonesian star Agnez Mo. He also co‑hosted the UNCF “Empower Me” tour and served as presenter for Miss Grand International 2016 in Las Vegas. Since 2018, White has headlined the Urban Movie Channel series Bronx SIU and Monogamy, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination for his performance in the former. Off‑camera, he married Paula Da Silva in 2010 and the couple welcomed a daughter in 2014.
