Anne Jacqueline Hathaway (born November 12, 1982) is an American actress who has made significant contributions to both the film and theatre industry. She has received numerous awards including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Golden Globe Award, and a Primetime Emmy Award. Her films have impressively grossed over $6.8 billion worldwide and she appeared on the Forbes Celebrity 100 list in 2009. One of the world's highest-paid actresses in 2015, Hathaway was among Forbes' highest-grossing actresses of the 21st century in 2017.

Beginning her acting career in several plays during her high school years, Hathaway made her breakthrough as a teenager when she was cast in the television series Get Real (1999–2000) and played the lead role in Disney's comedy The Princess Diaries (2001). She transitioned to mature roles in 2005 drama Brokeback Mountain, and continued with successful films like The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Rachel Getting Married (2008), Interstellar (2014) among others. Her most significant commercial success was in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), where she played Catwoman. Besides her film career, Hathaway has won a Primetime Emmy Award for her voice role in the sitcom The Simpsons and serves on the board for charities, like the Lollipop Theatre Network and advocates for gender equality as a UN Women goodwill ambassador.
