Ann Prentiss (Born Ann Elizabeth Ragusa, November 27, 1939 - January 12, 2010) was a talented American actress known for her diverse roles spanning several decades. She brought to life a range of characters in films and television series throughout the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. She is best remembered for her roles in 'My Stepmother Is an Alien', 'The Out-of-Towners', 'California Split', 'Any Wednesday', and the NBC-TV series 'Captain Nice'. The latter saw her portray Police Sgt. Candy Kane, the title character's girlfriend, a role that highlighted her versatile acting skills. Prentiss secured her place in Hollywood's memory by delivering memorable performances alongside renowned actors like Kim Basinger and Dan Aykroyd. Her contributions to comedy are particularly noteworthy, such as when she provided the voice of an alien species in 'My Stepmother Is an Alien'. Her legacy, however, extends beyond the characters she immortalized on screen. Prentiss' personal life was filled with tumultuous events. In California, she was convicted of a 1996 assault on her father and threats against her family. She was found guilty of attempting to hire another inmate to commit murder while serving a jail sentence. Her sentence was 19 years in prison, where she passed away in 2010.
