Halloween night begins with a mysterious VHS

On Halloween, Tia and Timmy find an unmarked VHS in their candy bag. They invite their babysitter Sarah to watch it, turning trick-or-treat into a horror viewing session. The taped program promises three stories about Art the Clown, foreshadowing the nightmare to come.

Casey abducted at the train station

In The 9th Circle segment, Casey is drugged and kidnapped by Art while waiting for a train at a station. She wakes to find herself chained in a room with two other women, Kristen and Sara. The room's chains seem to lead somewhere, and Casey and Kristen attempt a desperate escape with a rock.

Casey freed by the deformed figure, then recaptured

A deformed humanoid appears and dismembers Kristen, unwittingly freeing Casey from her chains. Casey runs toward freedom and encounters a man with a shopping cart who recaptures her. She is dragged deeper into the nightmare, again bound by chains.

Casey forced into the coven's ritual

Casey is restrained by a hooded coven and witnesses a pregnant woman having a fetus cut from her womb. The ritual ends with brutal displays of power as Casey confronts the dark ritual surrounding her. The horror culminates when she is assaulted and left to cope with the aftermath.

Sarah tucks the kids in and keeps watching

Back at the home, Sarah puts Tia and Timmy to bed and resumes watching the tape alone. The monochrome terror on screen continues to unfold, pulling focus away from the babysitter. The audience remains with Sarah as she absorbs the escalating dread.

Caroline moves to a countryside home

In the Something in the Dark segment, Caroline has just moved to a countryside home. That night, a bright object crashes nearby and a power outage plunges the house into darkness. Her phone and car malfunction, and she begins to suspect someone else is inside.

Caroline is stalked by an alien

With the house in darkness, an unseen alien stalks Caroline. She manages to disorient the intruder and hides in a small room under the staircase. A late phone call from her husband briefly reassures her before danger returns.

Art shows up in the painting

As the danger escalates, Caroline is dragged toward danger, and she pulls back a sheet from one of John's paintings, revealing an image of Art the Clown. The painting becomes a clue that Art has somehow invaded her reality. The sense of threat heightens as the intruder closes in.

Gas station confrontation with Art begins Terrifier

The Terrifier segment opens with a costume designer driving along an isolated road and stopping at a gas station. The attendant ejects Art after a disturbance, and the designer receives directions for her route. When a noise from inside draws attention, the designer enters and discovers Art chopping up the attendant's body with a hacksaw.

Designer escapes and Art pursues

The designer escapes in her car, but Art appears behind her seat attempting to smother her with cellophane. She crashes and barricades herself inside a large shed. Art digs into the shed and slashes her with a whip, forcing her to fight back with a scalpel to blind him in one eye and escape again.

Operating table horror

The designer awakens on a crude operating table and discovers Art has brutally mutilated her, carving misogynistic symbols into her body. The unimaginable act leaves her reeling and unable to comprehend the blood-soaked reality she faces.

TV returns with Art behind the glass

Disturbed, Sarah switches off the TV, but a home phone rings and the costume designer from the third segment pleads for help on the screen. The image shifts to a dingy room as Art steps into the frame and approaches Sarah from within the TV.

Art occupies the TV and terror reaches home

The television lurches to life with Art behind Sarah, pounding on the glass. She appears to become part of the screen, briefly trapped by Art as he closes in. In a panic, she smashes the tape and tries to break free from the nightmarish vision.
