Set in 1992, Heimsendir, an isolated Reykjavik‑area mental hospital called ‘World’s End,’ is a last‑resort home for many patients. After a nervous breakdown, elementary teacher Einar is committed against his will, denounces administration and rallies patients. He leads a revolt, seizes the facility and declares it a utopia—a state for the mentally ill.
