Angad Kunal Kapoor is a confused teenager trying to find himself, caught between the marital problems of his Maharashtrian mother Neelima Singh Rekha and Punjabi father Nihal Singh Shashi Kapoor. It is time for him to decide what he wants to do with his life. He chooses to join the Indian Air Force and become a fighter pilot, embarking on a journey that will test his resolve, shape his identity, and push him to navigate the demands of family, duty, and self-discovery.

What follows is a steady ascent into the skies and the struggles that come with it. Angad must learn to adapt to flying, endure long separations from his mom and dad, and find a way to balance training with the hard realities of a growing love. He is drawn to Anna Varghese Supriya Pathak, the daughter of his flying instructor Group Captain Varghese Amrish Puri, a relationship that becomes a source of strength as well as pressure. Anna’s support helps him confront his fears and recognize the potential that lies within him as a fighter pilot, even as their differences in background and belief echo the broader tapestry of Indian society.

The film thoughtfully foregrounds religious and cultural diversity. Nihal is a clean-shaven Sikh, Neelima is a Hindu, Angad himself is a Sikh, and Anna is a Christian, underscoring that Angad’s world and his ambitions span multiple faiths. His fellow officers symbolize this pluralism, illustrating how teamwork and trust cross religious lines when duty calls.

On the technical side, the movie is notable for its rarely seen aerial photography of combat aircraft active with the IAF in the 1980s. Angad is depicted as a MiG-21 pilot, flying the aircraft in a ground-attack role during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Much of the film’s visual impact comes from real flying sequences shot in Pune, with the IAF No.4 Squadron, known as the Oorials, providing the pilots and planes for the aerial work. The climax features a MiG-21bis, and the production makes impressive use of color footage of the Oorials in flight and in operation, adding a vivid, authentic texture to Angad’s formative journey as a pilot and as a person.
