What Is The Devil Bat About?
The premise of The Devil Bat without spoilers.
Dr. Paul Carruthers, angry that his employers Mary Heath and Henry Morton have swindled him out of company profits, engineers bats to double their size and programs them to strike when they sense a perfume he devises. He disguises the scent in a lotion he gives as a gift, leading to their deaths, which draw a newspaper reporter into the mystery.
