Ramlee, a down-and-out Malay youth, struggles to hold down a job, much to his mother Mak Ramlee’s disappointment. Out of work and short on cash, he stumbles upon a challenge from sushi restaurant owner Honda to eat all you can for free food within a time limit. Hungry and desperate, Ramlee gives the challenge a try, but he fails. In a touch of practicality, Honda offers him a job at the restaurant to help pay off his dues.

Ramlee becomes a member of the Boleh Sushi shop staff, working alongside Haris and Andy. He is immediately drawn to Siti, Honda’s beautiful daughter who is half-Japanese and half-Malay, and through her presence he starts to see the value of solid work, loyal friends, and family. As the days pass, he discovers that belonging to the team means more than paycheck and routine—it means being part of something larger.

One day, he learns that part of his obligation is to participate in the Malaysian Sushi Association Amateur Sumo Wrestling Championships, arranged by the local Japanese owners of sushi restaurants. During the early, friendly bout, Akira, Siti’s ex-boyfriend, humiliates him in public. This moment reveals that Ramlee had been drawn into Boleh Sushi because Honda was in desperate need of a third member for their squad.

Now Ramlee faces a pivotal choice: stay on and fight for Boleh Sushi in the upcoming Championships, or turn away from the new-found family he has begun to build. He chooses to step up to the challenge and starts training with the others for the big fight, pushing himself beyond excuses and fear.

Through rigorous practice and shared camaraderie, Ramlee learns the meaning of nokotta—never give up, the fight isn’t over until it’s won. He understands that the true honor lies not in the scoreboard but in showing up, giving his best, and standing by his teammates when the going gets tough. No matter what the final result, he discovers that the value of the journey is in the effort and the resolve to keep fighting.

Ultimately, Ramlee’s journey becomes a testament to resilience: a young man who lets go of excuses, embraces responsibility, and fights until the end for the people he has come to care about.
