Spoilers ahead
Malik El Djebena, a 19-year-old of Maghrebi descent, is sentenced to six years in prison for attacking police officers. Arriving alone and illiterate, he quickly falls under the sway of Corsican mobsters led by César Luciani, who enforce a brutal, unyielding order within the walls. The prison itself is split between two dominant factions—the Corsicans and the Maghrebis—and Malik largely keeps to himself, trying to survive in a world that sounds harsh and unforgiving.
