This tragicomic film explores the lives of young boys growing up in Czechoslovakia during the era of “Prague Spring” and subsequent occupation. It focuses on the son of a local communist officer and his friend, a boy whose parents had previously emigrated to the West. Their camaraderie and youthful experiences—first loves, gang fights, and naive beliefs—are challenged by the harsh realities of the adult world, including political upheaval, emigration, betrayal, and loss.
