Check out what happened in Come What May!

As the German Army's relentless advance through the Ardennes region of Belgium and France on May 10, 1940, sent shockwaves of fear throughout the small village of Lebucquière, its residents were faced with an impossible decision: abandon their homes and flee to the coast or risk being caught in the crossfire. Amidst this chaos, Paul, the village mayor, took charge, determined to maintain a semblance of order and preserve the republican spirit as his community embarked on a perilous journey. Mado, his wife, found solace in her music, using it to evoke the warmth and camaraderie that once filled their coffee shop with friends gathered around.

As they navigated this nomadic existence, Suzanne, a young teacher, played a crucial role, using her resourcefulness to guide the group through the least congested routes. Her compassion also extended to Max, an 8-year-old German boy who had lost his father, Hans, a fierce anti-Nazi dissident, after he was arrested by French authorities following the outbreak of war.

Meanwhile, in the midst of the Battle of Arras, prisoners were released from confinement and left abandoned in the deserted city. Amidst this chaos, Hans managed to escape, joining forces with Percy, a Scottish officer whose entire unit had fallen victim to German gunfire. Their unlikely alliance was born out of desperation: Hans sought to reunite with his son, who had fled Lebucquière in search of safety, while Percy hoped to find a boat back to England.

As these two refugees set out on their treacherous journey together, the fate of their families and the war hung precariously in the balance.
